Can I install a Boss Barrel myself? AR-15 and AR-10 carbon fiber barrels are designed as direct drop-in upgrades for standard mil-spec upper receivers and can typically be installed at home with the right tools and knowledge. For Henry Supreme replacement barrels, we strongly recommend having a qualified gunsmith perform the installation due to the complexity of the factory barrel swap process.
What tools do I need to install an AR barrel? A standard AR barrel installation requires an upper receiver vise block/Reaction Rod, barrel nut wrench, torque wrench, and gas tube alignment tool at minimum. Always follow proper torque specifications and ensure correct headspace before firing.
What is headspace and why does it matter? Headspace is the distance between the bolt face and the chamber seat. Correct headspace is critical for safe and accurate function. we always recommend having a qualified gunsmith verify headspace after any barrel installation.
How do I clean and maintain my Boss Barrel? Boss Barrels carbon fiber and stainless steel barrels can be cleaned using standard bore cleaning solvents and patches. Avoid abrasive cleaning tools that could damage the rifling or composite wrap. Regular cleaning after use will maximize barrel life and maintain accuracy. We recommend a 10 shot clean, 10 chot clean schedule.
